docfilm42 in June

Dear docfilm42 community,

Europe has moved to the right. But we haven’t!

docfilm42 has also voted. Our general meeting in May 2024 shows that we remain stable and are growing. We welcome filmmakers Robert Krieg and Ole Elfenkämpe as two new members to our board team. Our program group has also gained fresh impetus and continues to meet monthly to view and discuss films, make them available on our website and present them.

docfilm42 stands for more visibility of diversity. We remain committed to this.
And we will show this in three program slots from 14-16 June 2024 at the Superkunstfestival in Lübeck, the largest inclusive festival in Germany. We have selected 16 short films that show a wide range of documentary work. Although the festival is largely sold out, you can still find day tickets in the online ticket store.

On June 27, 2024, we will continue with Marion Böhm, format developer from ZDF, in a digital round with the topic of media libraries. You can register below.

We also have two events for you in July.

On July 21, 2024, filmmakers Artem Funk and Kaja Polivaeva will show us their documentary “Chronicles of the Middle Ages”, which tells the story of the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine from the perspective of eyewitnesses, in a doc&talk.

And for our members, filmmaker Sonya Winterberg will share exclusive insight for successful pitching at the digital regulars’ table on July 23, 2024.

You can find more information about all events below.

A note for all those who want to support independent film education. Our cooperation partner, the self-organized film school filmArche in Berlin, has to move. A crowdfunding campaign has been launched for this purpose. You can find more information and the donation button here.

If you want to become part of our growing network, you can become a member for €42 a year. Students now only pay €24 for the first year.
You can find the membership form here.

If you have any questions about membership, write to us at vorstand@docfilm42.de.

Have a nice June
your docfilm42 team

In recent years, public broadcasters have increasingly focused on developing their media libraries and winning back younger target groups.
This brings with it some changes in the narrative styles.
We talk to Marion Böhm, responsible for documentary formats in the ZDF Mediathek, about new freedoms, opportunities and requirements of storytelling.

Bio
Marion Böhm joined ZDF directly after her traineeship. There she worked as an editor and head of the politics, society and contemporary history department. She has been a format developer at ZDF for five years and supports editorial teams in developing and implementing documentary formats for the ZDFmediathek – especially with regard to target group orientation, formatting and types of production for a streaming audience.
