Chronicles of the Middle Ages

Shot in Kyiv, Bucha and Gostomel in May 2022, the film shows eyewitnesses of the beginning of the full-scale invasion and the following Russian occupation. The protagonists share their impressions of those days and their thoughts about the present and future.

On 24 February 2022 the Russian government started a full-scale war against Ukraine. Few hours after the attack many gruesome images of the invasion and its brutality reached us from all possible sources. Our time is heavily influenced by the media, fake news and propaganda have become part of daily life. We felt the need to gather our own uncensored impressions directly on site. The way took us to Kiev, Bucha and Gostomel. Being there from 13-22 Mai 2022 we used the chance to speak to eyewitnesses of aggression and film some of them. It is important for us that those weighty experiences can be widely shared and understood outside of Ukraine.
